Mrs. Saroj Prajapati

President

 

Mrs. Saroj Prajapati is well-known among Nepalese Community in DC area. She is also a founding member of Nepal Pasa Pucha Amerikaye. Her philosophy in keeping and preserving one’s own identity is most important part of the life. Her involvement with many Nepalese organizations such as ANA, NECC, ANS and NPPA for many years showed her dedication and support to the community. She had also served as a Program Coordinator for Phoolbari Cultural Club for more than ten years to promote Nepali culture programs in USA. Professionally, Mrs. Prajapati has been working for Lockheed Martin Corporation as Staff Financial Analyst in Finance and Business Operations.  She was graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with two majors Accounting and Technology Management.  Mrs. Prajapati lives in Maryland, and married to Krishna Prajapati, and has two children Pradeep and Promita.

Mr. Raju Joshee

Vice President - I

 

Mr. Raju Joshee is a Senior Technology and Management Professional.  He has more than 20 years of experience in IT and Energy Industry. He currently works at Okta, Inc. as a Lead Project Manager. He has worked as Practice Lead at Sun Microsystems, Senior Project Manager at Cummins and as a Managing Director at iApex, Inc. and C-MODE, Inc. Mr. Joshee is also a successful entrepreneur, who has successfully established several IT and energy companies in Nepal and in the US. Mr. Joshee provides expert services in the field of Business Process Modeling, Management Consulting, IT Strategic Planning, Development and implementation for large Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Manufacturing, and Financial Services Industries. He currently works as an Infrastructure and Service Delivery Manager for Anthelio Healthcare Inc.. Mr. Joshee is also an Executive Committee Member of Bandipures in North America (BNA). He received his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk, Belarus and Masters in Business Administration from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN. He lives in Odenton, MD with his wife Shilu and daughters Sahara, Sarahana and Savannah.

Mr. Buddha Maharjan

Vice President - II

 

Mr. Buddha Ratna Maharjan is a successful entrepreneur and is the President of Maharjan Group, Inc. He has more than 20 years of experience in successful operation of Nepalese restaurant in Washington, D.C. and well known fast food franchise in Maryland and Virginia. Besides, he is a well known scholar of Vajrayan Buddhism and holds the designation of Dharmanushashak of Paramparagat Bauddha Dharma Sangha, Maryland branch. While he was in Nepal, he owned a carpet factory, which produced high quality carpets for export and local market. He received his Bachelors of Business Management degree from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He resides in Rockville, Maryland with his wife Ganga and daughter Manjima.

Mr. Manohar Shrestha
General Secretary

Mr. Manohar Shrestha is a Senior Business Intelligence professional. He has 25 plus years of Information Technology experience, which includes ten plus years of data warehousing and data analysis in various sectors. While in Nepal, he served as Senior Administrative Officer and Administrative Manager at the Royal Danish Embassy and U.S. Peace Corps/Nepal, respectively, where he was also responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of the information technology systems. He was actively involved with Red Cross in Nepal and coordinated several programs/events. He received his Masters of Business Administration degree from TribhuvanUniversity in Nepal. He resides in Aldie (Stone Ridge), Virginia with his wife Anjaly, son Anugh, and daughter Aishwarya.

Ms. Sarita Dongol
Treasurer

Ms. Sarita Dongol is currently working in Maryland University. She is also affiliated with an institution in tutoring children. While in Nepal, she served in the Central Bureau of Statistics of government of Nepal for six years. She received a full scholarship to study computer programming in Overbrook School for the Blind, USA, under teacher training program. She is an entrepreneur with 16 year experience. She is one of the founder members of American Nepal Women’s Association (ANWA) of greater Washington, D.C. and has been volunteering in free medical clinic since its establishment in 2007. She received Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University. She resides in Laurel, Maryland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Shanti Shrestha
Executive Member

Mrs. Shanti Shrestha is currently working as a Desktop Specialist at EU Services in Rockville, Maryland. For more than 20 years, Shanti has been very active in the Nepali community in Washington D.C Area. For the past decade, she has been helping Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye in publishing the DABU Magazine yearly, volunteering different NPPA’s activities such as organizing cultural programs, administrating registration. Mrs. Shanti Shrestha was awarded for her exceptional and long-term service provide to NPPA. Mrs. Shrestha is also the Registration Chairwoman for the DC Nepali School in Vienna Virginia. She received her Associate in Arts from Prince George Community College and is also currently pursuing her BA in Business Management at University of Maryland, College Park. She currently lives in Gaithersburg, Maryland with her husband Pancha Shrestha and her three children, Pukar Sweekar and Kriti.

Mr. Prabin Tamrakar
Executive Member

Mr. Prabin K. Tamrakar is a New York Life Agent since 2013. He was associated with Harris Teeter since 2007. He has a unique drive towards publication, music, drama/movies. While in Nepal, he served at Nabil Bank for more than 5 years, studied Buddhism, practiced classical vocal, and completed the Reiki healing course. He has produced several Newah and Nepali musical albums. He contributed to the publication of Boudharshi Mahapragya's autobiography in Newah language and souvenir magazines of Pugata Bhoomi Jetwan Bihar and AKVP Golden Jubilee Celebration. Mr. Tamrakar was General Secretary of Anandakuti Alumni Association and Bharatiya Yog Sansthan Kathmandu Branch. He is the General Secretary of Paramparagat Bauddha Dharma Sangha, Maryland and is coordinator in USA of proposed Durgalal Sahitya Guthi and Janbuddha Foundation of Nepal. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Tribhuvan University. He resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland with his wife Deepa and daughter Hridayesha

 

 

 

Mrs. Magan Shrestha
Executive Member

Mrs. Magan Shrestha is an entrepreneur and has been managing family owned business since last 23 years. She is also a licensed real estate and investment expert. She has actively participated in various cultural activities throughout the United States since her arrival and has continuously served NPPA since its establishment in 1991. She is a true advocate of promoting and preserving Nepali culture with a motto of “if not us, who and if not now, when?” She graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in Information Systems Management/Business Administration. She lives in Sandy Spring, Maryland with husband Nani Babu and sons Nayan, Naveen, and Neeraj

 

 

 

 

Ms. Sunita Amatya
Executive Member

Ms. Sunita Amatya is a professional Civil/Structural Engineer. She has more than 15 years of experience in engineering. She is currently working as a Project Engineer at The Temple group for the District Department of Transportation, Washington, D.C. Besides, she is interested in selfless services that makes difference in the society. Prior to moving to the United States, she designed several earthquake resistant building structures in Nepal. She received her Civil Engineering degree from Tongji University, Shanghai. She is a blessed parent of son Sudin, who is well known in the Nepalese community as a young talented musician.

 

 

Mr. Shankar Ram Shrestha
Chief Editor

Accredited by Punjab Agricultural University, Punjab State,India as a Bachelor degree (Honors in Animal Sciences) in 1982, started career under Ministry of Agriculture in Nepal. Trained in New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM  in Range Management Course (1985), executed His Majesty's Government Directive Program as a Farm Manager in Dolpa, Karnali Zone (1985). Obtained Master of Science degree in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economic Research, University of Reading, Whitenights, United of Kingdom (1995) after working in Pakhribas Agriculture Center, Dhankuta as a District Outreach Coordinator deputed in Ilam in Eastern Nepal under the British Technical Cooperation (BTCO).  Overall worked in different capacity in His Majesty’s Government of Nepal starting from Gazetted Officer to Outreach Coordinator in Non Government Organisation, Livestock Officer in Resource Conservation and Utilization Project in Gorkha District (USAID), Technical Officer in Dairy Development Corporation, Biratnagar, the Eastern Nepal, Gazetted Officer in   Regional Directorate Office in Livestock Services , Biratnagar (HMG),  

Worked as a General Secretary in Nepa Pasa Pucha of Amerikaye in non-profit Organisation in Washington suburban during 2005-2007. During the tenure period we had an opportunity to produce Newah CDs for distribution and Chief Editor in DABOO, a NPPA's magazine from 2014 to date. Moreover, DABOO published in 2014 has more Newah articles suitable to linguistics, anthropologists and research scholars for international studies in global institutions and is of  its own kind since its inception. Corporate Business since 1995 to date in US, loves adventurous travelling and arduous job functionality, successfully executed scientific research trial for self-sufficiency in forage seed production in arid climatic domain of Nepal, lives with wife, Pratima Shrestha and two sons, Dr  Suman Ram Shrestha and Dr. Susan Ram Shrestha
